Yes I love a great analogy when it makes you laugh out loud and makes your opponent shrink in total humiliation, and this is what I think we're in need of right now.
Yes, I'm all for framing the debate but having the right jab on hand to use at the right moment will do more to turn the momentum in your favor quickly. Once you do that then I believe you can start your framing because at that moment you'll have everyone's attention.
I was reading in this morning's St. Pete Times (sorry, no online link to the story) about how the republicans are campaigning saying they know things are bad but they could be much worse if Democrats take control. You can see this in periodicals like the National Review talking about how bad it will be if Pelosi becomes Speaker of the House. That's their plan. They have no record to run on so the plan is to say democrats will be worse.
We could explain our plans for making things right until we're blue in the face but I don't believe it will work until we first punch the GOP square in the mouth. Let's be honest with ourselves for a moment. We have a lot of smart democrats but some of the smartest are by far the most boring to listen too. We even have people on here who get upset if the diaries aren't long enough. We can get the job done quickly using few words and I believe we can do that with a few well placed analogies.
Collectively I think we can come up with some great analogies to slap the right with. For example my first humble attempt would be to say that keeping the republicans in charge would be like letting a drunken pilot keep control of a crashing plane.
So what are your ideas?
