There is a saying that all politics are local but it seems we spend far too much time concentrating on Senate and Congressional races, and not enough on local races. Because of the USSC's decision blessing Tom Delay's redistricting of Texas congressional districts, we need to concentrate most of our effort in winning back state legislatures.
The reason I say this is because it should be obvious to everyone that if the democrats control the state houses we are now free to redistrict congressional races to our favor. Again this should be obvious to everyone but from what I'm reading and hearing I get the impression that only the republicans can gain from this which just isn't true. Some republicans, especially McCain, have been warning the republican leaders to be careful what powers they give the president, and laws they pass because they aren't going to be in power forever. Those very laws can go a long way toward allowing us to move our country in a more progressive direction.
Let me make one thing clear, however. I am not advocating ignoring federal elections, just spending more time getting our ducks in a row so we can elect congressmen and senators to office more easily than now.
On another issue can we get over the conspiracy theories about the elections being stolen? If the voting machines can be hacked into I'm sure there are some good liberal computer geeks that can do that for us and send the elections in our direction. Republicans don't own all the computer experts so let's get past the idea that they are the only one's who can hack into the system.
